It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald William Jones, who passed away on November 10, 2025, at The Moncton Hospital. He was the beloved spouse of Jamie LeBlanc of Riverview. Gerald was born in Moncton, NB to the late Walter Edmund and Sarah Alberta (nee Wright) Jones.
He will be dearly missed by his loving spouse Jamie LeBlanc, sons; Scott (Lisa) & Kevin (Tracy), stepdaughter; April, grandchildren; Avery, Blake, Rowan, Cailin and Brady, niece; Linda and nephews; David & Jeff who will miss him.
Aside from his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his brother Ronnie and his sister Ruth.
Gerald ("Jerry") grew up on a farm on the Salisbury Road where he learned the lessons of hard work at an early age. His hard worker badge followed him throughout his life as he built a career around his love for driving after a short stint as an electrician apprentice. He drove gravel trucks and then transport trucks for several decades and earned awards for his driving skills along the way. He would eventually own and operate his own transport truck for CN Intermodal for a large portion of his career. When he retired, his lifelong need to always be moving and doing something still saw him driving gravel trucks or moving vehicles for dealerships for several years into retirement. His hobby as many would attest was driving.
In his spare time the man his friends fondly referred to as "Gadget" or "Go Go Gadget" was still on the move with his spouse Jamie. RV Camping, attending tractor pulls, races and occasional snow mobile rides once again kept him out of the house and in motion somewhere. Putting on the cowboy boots and taking a spin on the dance floor was also in his wheelhouse. Gadget was always looking to have a chat in the garage at his house where he would probably also end up tinkering around or fixing something. Occasionally those efforts would lead to bumps, bruises and cuts that Dr Jones could fix with whatever glue, tape, band aid or wrap he could find handy. Jerry was the guy you could always depend on when you needed him and there was nobody that saying he would give you the shirt off his back was more applicable to than Gadget.
Follow the sporting efforts of his 2 sons was also something he loved from those early days on baseball fields, basketball courts or curling clubs. He continued those times all the way to his final years having attended several Briers with his son to watch his other son compete.
Following Gerald’s wishes, cremation has taken place at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road Riverview (506-869-2007). A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Gerald spent more time than he would have liked in hospital during his final few years. Despite those health challenges he would always find a way to crack a smile, wave a hand or fondly acknowledge the many healthcare professionals he would meet. His family would especially like to thank the compassionate and tireless efforts of the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care unit for making his final days and hours comforting for him and his family. For that reason, it would be Gerald’s wishes that any Donations in his honour be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Unit or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
