It is with great sadness that the family of Millie Bartlett announce her passing on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at the Grass Nursing Home, in Riverview NB.
Millie was born in Bridgeport, NL to the late Hardy and Netta (nee Miles) Bartlett. Her presence will be profoundly missed by daughters, Brenda (Larry) Knapp, Jeannette Holmden (Gary Huntington) and Heather Sweetapple (Peter Hebert), her brothers Eric Bartlett and Allan Bartlett, her grandchildren Zachary, Jaclyn, Hilary, Chris, Alexander and Clara, and several nieces and nephews.
Aside from her parents, Millie was predeceased by her sister Joyce and brother Chesley. She was also predeceased by sisters-in-law Pam and Marie.
Millie will be remembered as a fiercely independent woman who lived life on her own terms and followed her passions with determination and style. Clothing was one of Millie’s great loves. At the age of 50, she boldly turned that passion into her dream job, opening her own clothing boutique in Fredericton NB. It was a reflection of who she was – confident, hardworking and fearless starting something new. Millie had a keen eye for fashion and took great pride in helping others feel good in what they wore.
Millie was immensely proud of her three ‘girls’ and spoke often of their accomplishments. Her love for family extended deeply into the lives of her six grandchildren. She was there when each of them was born and remained a constant, loving presence every step of their lives, celebrating milestones big and small.
She also enjoyed making her own wine and sharing with family, often alongside laughter and lively conversation. Millie had a competitive streak and liked to win but it was all part of her spirited nature and love of being surrounded by those about whom she cared.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of The Grass Home (774 Coverdale Road). Although her time there was short, we are deeply thankful for their wonderful care and compassion they gave to mom in her final days. Special thanks to nurse Olivia and Lynn and all her dedicated caregivers.
Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her strength, independence and devotion to our family.
The family wishes to give Dr. Jamie Stewart a heartfelt Thank You, who always took extra special care for their Mother.
Arrangements are entrusted at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road Riverview (506-869-2007). A Celebration of Life for Millie will be held at a later date.
