The family of Donald Frederick MacLennan sadly announces his passing on June 7, 2026 at Pavillion Cormier, Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton, NB.  He was predeceased by Diane on March 13, 2026, his loving wife and shadow, as you never saw one without the other.

Born in Glace Bay, NS, in December 1937, he was the youngest of six children of the late Donald and Christine (Ferguson) MacLennan. He went to Mt Allison University in Sackville, NB, to start his electrical engineering degree and finished at the Technical University of Nova Scotia in Halifax. He married Diane in 1961 and the two moved to St. Lambert, QC, to start a career at Bell Canada. His telecom career later moved them to Saint John, NB, to work with NB Tel. Not one to be idle, Don ran and won the position of Mayor of Renforth. In 1974, Don and Diane bought a construction company in Moncton, NB, and named it "D & D Construction". Several years later he accepted a position with the Federal Government at Transport Canada supporting airports in the Atlantic region.

Again, not ones to be idle, Don and Diane started making perogies and freezer jam that they sold to Sobeys under the name Diane Foods. This side hustle kept them very busy in their off hours, with early morning 4am runs to Debert, NS, to deliver their product before Don went to work at Transport Canada in Moncton.

Don was always busy and the only place he seemed he could truly relax was at the cottage in Parrsboro, NS. Don was not a fan of the band Trooper, but it was at the cottage where he would always say "We're here for a good time, not a long time".

Don will be dearly missed by his brother Gordon of Allen, Texas, sons Donald (Katrina) of Parrsboro, NS, and Robert (Stacey) of Allen, Texas; daughter Heather (Derek) of Pollett River, NB, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Lorna, Greta, Beryl, and Ester.

Keep on having that "good time" Dad, we love you.

At Don’s request there will be no visitation or funeral services. His original wishes were to donate his body to Dalhousie University Medical School. As this program is currently closed, arrangements have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (506-869-2007). Donations made in his memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by his family.
