Jan Nickerson of
Riverview, NB, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on June 17, 2026,
at the age of 81. Born in September 1944 in Moncton, NB, Jan was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who built a life of warmth and
purpose in her community.
After graduating from
teacher's college in 1965, Jan devoted her career to teaching and
later to library work. A longstanding member of Trinity United Church,
she had a deep love of travel and, above all, cherished being
surrounded by children — through her teaching, the reading
circles she led at libraries, and the grandchildren upon whom she
doted. An incredibly kind person, Jan was unfailingly friendly and
loving, always looking for the good in people and in every
situation.
She is survived by her
husband E. Richard Nickerson; her sons Darren Nickerson and David
Nickerson; and her cherished grandchildren Taylor Nickerson, Cordelia
Nickerson, and Valente Hidalgo; her sister Sandra; as well as many
other relatives and friends. Jan was predeceased by her parents Esther
(Hawkes) and Allen Lutes, and her sisters Claudia and
Elaine.
A loving wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who
knew her. May she rest in peace and live on in the lives of those who
love her. Arrangements for a service with a reception to follow at
Cobb’s Funeral Home will be announced at a later date and
have been entrusted to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation
Center, 330 Whitepine Rd, Riverview (506-869-2007).
In memory of Jan,
donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or the Alzheimer
Society of Canada would be appreciated by her family. Online
