It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Christopher, who passed peacefully, blanketed with love, on July 14th, 2026, after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Christopher was the son of Cyril Pinsent and the late Vera Pinsent (née Parrott). He spent the majority of his childhood in Clarenville, NL, where he formed the strong values of kindness, humility, and hard work that would define his life. He went on to attend Memorial University of Newfoundland, earning a degree in Geology.

Christopher's career brought him to Labrador City, NL, where he dedicated 30 years of service to Rio Tinto. Labrador City became much more than a place of work, it became home. It was there that he met the love of his life, Rowena, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, lifelong friendships, and a close-knit community that became like family. The memories they created there with family and friends will be treasured forever. In June 2018, following their retirements, Christopher and Rowena made their home in Dieppe, NB. Throughout his career, Christopher earned the admiration and respect of his colleagues for his integrity, unwavering work ethic, calm demeanor, and genuine kindness. He was someone people trusted, valued, and were grateful to work alongside.

Nothing brought Christopher greater joy than being a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adoring grandfather. His greatest pride was his family, and he found endless happiness in supporting those he loved, providing stability, encouragement, and fostering curiosity in the generations that followed. Christopher and Rowena also shared a love of travel, especially cruising. Their lifelong adventures began with a honeymoon cruise and continued over the years as they explored the world together with family and dear friends, creating countless cherished memories.

Christopher's passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him most. He will be forever missed by his devoted wife of 36 years, Rowena; his beloved daughter, Laura (Robert Marchi); and his precious grandchildren, Amelia Marie and James Christopher, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his loving father, Cyril Pinsent; his sisters, Catherine (Richard) Power and Jennifer Morrissey; his brothers, Michael (Joy), Mark (Marie), and John (Sheila); his sister-in-laws, Phyllis (Wilson, predeceased) Barnes, Vera (Ernest) Curtis; brother-in-laws, Calvin (Clarice) Smart, and Brian (Brenda) Smart, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.  He held a treasured place in the lives of great-nephew and great-niece, Benjamin and Meredith Wells, who lovingly became like extended grandchildren to him and brought him immense joy. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to John and Elizabeth Hutchison for their unwavering love, friendship, and support throughout Christopher's illness.

His quiet strength, patient heart and subtle humor brightened the lives of everyone around him, but above all he was defined by his kindness, known for his soft spoken nature and gentle soul. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. He faced cancer with the same quiet courage that marked his life. He hid his struggles for as long as he could, determined to protect the people that he loved. The joy we received in the good times and the comfort we received when we needed it the most will carry us through the most difficult days.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Eve St. Hilaire for her outstanding medical care, compassion, and dedication throughout Christopher’s diagnosis and treatment. Her expertise, kindness, and unwavering support meant so much to Christopher and to our family during this difficult journey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Clarenville, NL. Donations in Christopher's memory can be made to the Tree of Hope In Memoriam Donations | CHU Dumont Foundation.

Arrangements are entrusted with Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (506 869 2007).
